Ofrenda Icons
In 2017, I was asked to paint a series of saint icons for an ofrenda altar walk at a POC-centered gathering on contemplation, action, and healing.
From the conference website: "The altars created and curated for the conference's Altar spaces are homages to those saints that have come before us, un-remembered or under-remembered, who we feel held in the stories of their lives the work in the world we aspire to - of deep spirituality, of courageous justice, of empowered POC-voices, and healing for the world."

The following year I was asked to paint four more saints.
It was a deeply moving experience for me to learn about each of these saints, and then to spend hours in the studio alone with each of them as they came to life on the canvas.

More recently, I was commissioned to paint a Black Madonna icon for a friend of mine. As a former Catholic, I felt an immense responsibility to properly portray this venerated woman.
